Grades 3-6 are invited to sign up for a day at the Lakeland Linder Airport- Aerospace Center for Excellence \nAerospace Center for Excellence Field Trip @ Lakeland Linder Airport \nCalling all 3rd – 6th Grade learners that are interested in flight\, engineering or NOAA! \nBusy Bee Homeschool Hive has scheduled a field trip to the Lakeland Linder Airport’s ACE program. \nProgram Details \nDuring a field trip to the Aerospace Center for Excellence our highly trained STEM Educators will guide your students through an immersive\, hands-on experience that consists of: \nInteractive presentations \nLive demonstrations \nLab activities and immersive experiments (based on grade level) \nField trip programs run from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm in the Skylab Innovation Center and include the Science On a Sphere Lab\, the Engineering Lab\, and either the Flight Simulation Lab (Grades 5th-6th) or the Florida Air Museum (grades 3rd-4th) depending upon the age of your students. After your Field Trip program concludes\, free exploration of the Florida Air Museum is permitted until the museum closes at 4:00 pm. \nProgram 1- Moving Through Space \nLocation: NOAA Science on a Sphere \nGrades: 3rd-6th \nThe motion of the stars\, planets\, and moon have long engaged human interest. Explore Earth’s rotation and revolution in relation to the Sun and Moon. Discover how these movements impact Moon Phases. Students recreate the journey of Curiosity on Mars using Sphero Bolts as rovers. They will learn how NASA scientists collected and analyzed data from other celestial bodies. \nAligns with the following FL education standards: SC.3.E.5.2 SC.4.E.5.3 SC.4.E.5.4 SC.4.N.1.1 SC.4.N.1.3 SC.5.E.5.3 SC.5.N.1.1 SC.5.N.1.2 \nProgram 2- Rocketing to Space \nLocation: Engineering \nGrade Levels: 3rd -6th \nSending satellites and other vehicles into space using rockets is becoming a competitive business. Investigate the relationship between mass\, force and distance as applied to space travel by manipulating straw rockets. \nAligns with the following FL education standards: SC.4.P.10.2 SC.4.P.12.1 SC.5.P.10.2 SC.5.P.13.2 SC.5.P.13.3 SC.3.N.1.1 SC.4.N.1.1 SC.5.N.1.1 SC.5.N.1.3 \nProgram 3 (based on grade level)- \nThe 3rd-4th Graders’ Program– History and Future of Flight \nLocation- Florida Air Museum & Aviation Playground \nDiscover the thrilling world of aviation at the Florida Air Museum\, a captivating destination that celebrates the rich history and exciting future of flight. Enjoy the vast collection of aircraft\, exhibits\, and interactive displays\, offering an immersive experience for aviation enthusiasts of all ages. Featuring 24 interactive learning opportunities for aspiring aviators regarding the science and practice of flight\, this aviation themed playground has the layout of an airport\, complete with taxiways and runways. Also included is a sitting area for adults and large sun shades. \nAlign with FL education standards: SC.1-4.N.1.1 PE.K-5.M.1.1 PE.2-4.C.2.2 \nThe 5th-6th Grades’ Program — Flying Fundamentals \nLocation- Redbird Flight Simulation Lab \nNearly 300\,000 new pilots are needed worldwide over the next ten years. Through flight simulation\, understand how the physics (aerodynamics) of flight works to keep an airplane flying straight and level. \nAligns with FL education standards: SC. 5.P.13.1 SC.5.P.13.2 SC.6.P.13.1 SC.6.P.13.2 SC.7.N.1.5 SC.8.N.1.2 SC.912.P.12.3 SC.912.N.1.1 912.CTE Aerospace Tech \nImmediately Following we will continue the day at the Pavilion\, where students will participate in an Paper Airplane Competition. \nAlso included\, Pilot License\, Completion Certificate\, Goody Bag \nTickets — \nCost: $25 per student participant or 125 Bee Bucks \n  \n$10 per participating chaperone or 50 Bee Bucks \nThere are only 20 total tickets for students and 2 tickets for participating chaperones. \nPlease add a non-participating chaperone ticket to the order if not participating\, so we can account for each child’s parent or chaperone. \nYou are welcome to bring other guests or siblings and enjoy the Florida Air Museum. Schedule is NOT finalized.) \nEnds- After the Night Show (Our wrist bands will cover admission all day including the Wednesday night air show). \nWhere: Lakeland Linder Airport\, Skylab Innovation Center\, & Florida Aviation Museum \nWho: All ages are welcome! \n***This event and its’ group discounts are limited to Busy Bee Homeschool Hive Members and \ntheir guests.
