SFLHRC Teen Field Trip: CSI: New River – Secrets in the Soil

👦🏽 Ages: 12 – 17

Step into the shoes of a crime scene investigator as we travel back to 1836 and uncover the mystery of the Cooley incident along the New River.

In this immersive field trip, students will explore the past with a modern twist—analyzing historical evidence like real forensic anthropologists and bio-archaeologists.

Using skeletal clues, crime scene techniques, and critical thinking, they’ll piece together what really happened to the Cooley family and their tutor.

From collecting evidence to interpreting forensic data, students will gain a unique perspective on how science and history come together to tell untold stories.
