Roots & Rising: Stories of Fort Lauderdale’s African American Pioneers

February 6 @ 9:45 am - 12:00 pm

Join us on a powerful journey through time as we honor the legacy of Fort Lauderdale’s African American trailblazers.

From the determination of Sylvia Aldridge to the advocacy of Eula Johnson, and the groundbreaking work of Dr. Von Mizell and Dr. Sistrunk, students will explore the lives and lasting impact of these incredible leaders.

Through interactive stories, artifacts, and hands-on learning, we’ll celebrate the vibrant contributions in education, health, the arts, and entrepreneurship that have shaped our community from the 1800s to today.

A guided visit to History Fort Lauderdale where students will experience history come to life through exhibits, multimedia presentations, and cultural displays. They’ll walk the paths of pioneers, see their neighborhoods, and hear stories that inspire pride and purpose.
