H.Y.P.E. (Helping Young People Elevate) After School Program Rooted in Food and Culture: A Taste of Heritage

February 23 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Monday, February 23

3:30pm – 5:00pm

Created by the Teen Advisory Board and powered by youth, this Black History Month program invites participants to celebrate heritage through food, traditions, and storytelling.

H.Y.P.E. (Helping Young People Elevate) After School Program – Black History Month Edition

Join us for Taste of Heritage, a hands-on program that celebrates Black History Month by exploring the powerful connection between food, culture, and identity.

Led by EatWell Exchange, this interactive experience brings Black culinary traditions to life through engaging stories, meaningful conversations, and a fun no-cook food activity featuring familiar flavors.

This isn’t just about cooking—it’s about celebrating heritage, building confidence, and discovering the stories behind the food we love.

Sponsored by BSO Law Enforcement Trust Fund and Friends of Broward County African American Research Library and Cultural Center.

About EatWell Exchange: Eatwell Exchange works to decrease health disparities in low-socioeconomic communities while keeping culturally relevant foods on the table.

In February 2017, EatWell Exchange was born and since then have provided nutrition education to the populations that need it most, locally and abroad.
